About VeeArc - Our History
50's...
In 1952 VeeArc was established
as a precision machine shop supporting the aircraft industry. A requirement for
adjustable speed on some of the Company's own grinding equipment led to the
internal development of a DC motor control with some unique (and subsequently
patented) features. Inherent in the design was a very broad speed range and
extremely smooth DC output.
60's...
The value of VeeArc's DC drive was evident
to the machine tool industry and it found broad acceptance in this industry for
grinder work head drives. An adaptation of the initial design was produced by
the thousands as the "Capacitron," a low horsepower constant torque drive used
as a loom take-up in the textile industry.
70's...
VeeArc began to develop a product known as the PWM 7000 series for the AC drive market.
The product was rapidly accepted in
the manufacturing and machine tool industries. Additionally, the PWM 7000
provided the opportunity for VeeArc to broaden their market scope.
80's...
In 1983 Relcon Inc., a Canadian drive supplier, was granted a manufacturing license to produce and sell the PWM7000
in the Canadian market. VeeArc introduced a second generation of the PWM 7000, known as the SUPER
7000. This microprocessor-based control was, at the time, one of the most
advanced in the industry. By this time VeeArc was active in the applications and service
of drive systems in all major industry sectors.
In 1988, VeeArc was acquired by the
Furnas Electric Company, located in Batavia, IL. This acquisition provided
another market for VeeArc drives...Furnas' motor control
centers. Product development continued.
90's...
Furnas VeeArc Drives introduced a re-designed SUPER 7000+ product, ranging from 60 to 200 Hp.
In 1992, The Micro 7000 product was released. The Micro 7000 product featured
IGBT and surface mount technologies allowing extremely compact designs.
Initially ratings reached 50 Hp and later as high as 400 Hp.
Furnas Electric was acquired by Siemens Energy & Automation in 1996. Shortly
thereafter, VeeArc ceased production of their AC drives.
00's...
Throughout its history as a manufacturer of adjustable speed drives,
VeeArc has been known for products with superior performance, excellent
craftsmanship, and unparalleled service and support. In keeping with
this tradition, VeeArc continues to service VeeArc AC drives, drives
by other quality manufaturers, including Siemens and High Resolution
CRT Monitors. Our proud legacy continues...
